The Greater Ritual of the Hexagram

The Greater Ritual of the Hexagram is the advanced planetary ritual of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. While its structure mirrors the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram, its purpose and scope are entirely different. Where the Pentagram rituals govern elemental forces, the Hexagram rituals govern planetary intelligences and cosmic powers.

This ritual is used to invoke or banish a specific planetary force, aligning the operator with the corresponding sphere of influence upon the Tree of Life.

Step 1 — Perform the L.V.X. Ritual

Begin by performing the Analysis of the Key Word (L.V.X.) to establish alignment with the current of Light and to prepare the sphere of operation.

Step 2 — Perform the Hexagram Operation (Planetary)

Proceed with the Hexagram ritual in the four quarters, tracing the hexagram figure appropriate to the specific planet being invoked or banished. The sequence and movement around the space follow the same operational logic as the Lesser Hexagram work, but the form of the hexagram changes according to the planet.

• Select the planet to be invoked or banished.
• At each quarter, trace the planetary hexagram in the air exactly as required for that planet.
• Vibrate ARARITA while tracing each hexagram

This step is performed as a complete operation, forming a coherent planetary field of influence within the ritual space.

Step 3 — Perform the L.V.X. Ritual Again

Conclude by performing the Analysis of the Key Word (L.V.X.) once more, sealing and equilibrating the forces raised, and restoring the operator to a balanced condition.
